John "Jack" Walter Kimbel

John “Jack” Walter Kimbel, 87, of Davenport, passed away Thursday October 9, 2025, at MercyOne Genesis Davenport Medical Center.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, October 13, 2025, at Esterdahl Mortuary and Crematory, Moline. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 12, 2025, at the funeral home. Private burial will be at Calvary Cemetery at a later date. Memorials may be made to Vera French Mental Health Center, 1441 W. Central Park Avenue, Davenport, Iowa 52804.

Jack was born on September 17, 1938, at home in Rock Island, the son of John R. and Eva (Hedstrom) Kimbel. He married Marlene Kay Moore on March 30, 1957, at the former St. Jospeh Catholic Church in Rock Island. Jack was employed as a sheet metal worker for the Schebler Company, retiring in February of 2001, after 42 years. He was a member of the former St. Joseph Catholic Church and a current member of St. Pius X Catholic Church, Rock Island. His biggest joys in life were doing odd jobs for family and friends and helping people. Jack enjoyed gardening and tending to his flowers.

Survivors include his wife, Marlene; daughters, Jody (Dan) Bruce, Julie (Mark) Kimbel Farmer, Jill (Gary) Kimbel Alexander; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Gini Kimbel.

He was preceded in death by infant granddaughter, Nichole; daughter, Jayne Linson; brother, Wayne Kimbel; brothers and sisters-in-law, Dale & Eileen Kimbel and Don & Toni Kimbel; sisters and brothers-in-law, Shirley & James Bush and Loretta “Sis” & Don Hines.
