John L. Lay

John L. Lay, 56, of Coal Valley, IL, passed away on Monday, April 6, 2026, at his home.

Cremation rites have been accorded. Per the families wishes, there are no services to be held. Esterdahl Mortuary and Crematory, Ltd., Moline are assisting the family.

John was born on September 2, 1969, in Moline, IL, the son of Delmar and Connie (Hamilton) Lay. He married Gina Tipton in Green Rock, Colona, IL on April 8, 1995; she preceded him in death on December 6, 2016. John enjoyed gardening and taking his little dog on walks.

Survivors include his mother, Connie; sister, Kathy Schram; nieces and nephews, M.J. Schram, Stephen (Kaylie) Mortiz, Kayla Schram, and Lindsey Schram.

He was preceded in death by his father and wife.
