John Lohse

John R. Lohse, 72, of Hampton, IL, died Tuesday, August 11, 2015, at Genesis Medical Center - Illini Campus, Silvis, IL.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, August 17, 2015 at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd. 6601-38th Avenue, Moline. Visitation will be from 2-5 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Greenview Memorial Gardens.

John was born on April 20, 1943, in Moline, the son of Elmer and Marie Thee Lohse. He married Ellen M. Crawford on June 30, 1962 in Rockton, IL.

John was employed as a machinist at the Rock Island Arsenal for over 30 years, retiring in 1997. He was very generous with his time in helping people regardless of what their needs entailed. In one way or another, John touched the lives of those he came in contact with. He was especially witty with his humor! He was known to say "keep your head up in life, otherwise, there is just too much you can miss". His most important mission in life was spending time with his family and friends. John will be greatly missed, but the memories will live on forever!

John was a member of the Moline Viking Club.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and 2 brothers, Allen and Ronald Lohse.
