John V Marshall

John V. Marshall, 74, of Orion, IL, died Tuesday, June 13, 2017, in Coal Valley.

Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Friday, June 16, 2017, at Kirk, Huggins, & Esterdahl Funeral Home, 1301 4th Street, Orion, IL. Per his wishes, cremation rites will be accorded following the visitation. Private graveside services will take place at Western Township Cemetery at a later date. Memorials can be made to the Orion Volunteer Fire Department.

John was born December 28, 1942, in Moline, IL, the son of J. Vernon Marshall and Laura M. Raes. He married Carol A. Sayre October 22, 1966, in Orion, IL. John worked as a maintenance supervisor within the Orion school district for a number of years and also loved carpentry work in his free time. He was a member of the Orion Volunteer Fire Department and Mary Our Lady of Peace, Catholic church in Orion, IL.

Survivors include his wife, Carol; daughters, Amy Grundstrom, Orion, IL, and Jill Marshall, Orion, IL; son, Tim (Shelly) Marshall, Orion, IL; grandchildren, Gayle, Kyle, Sarah, Griffin, and Jake; brothers, Joe (Pat) Marshall, Kewanee, IL, Loren (Deb Diericks) Marshall, Orion, IL, Dale (Brenda) Marshall, Orion, IL; and sisters, Laureen Jansen, Orion, IL, and Christine (Mike) Nightingale, Orion, IL; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, son in law, Carlyle Grundstrom, and nephew, Royce Johnson.
