John D. Morgan, 86, of Silvis, IL, died Thursday, November 28, 2013, at Heartland Health Care Center, Moline, IL.
Funeral Services will be held at 12 p.m. Monday, December 2, 2013, at Zion Lutheran Church, 17628 Hubbard Road, East Moline, IL. Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, December 1, 2013, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., 6601 38th Avenue, Moline, IL. Burial will be at Zion Lutheran Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Zion Lutheran Church General Fund.
John was born on April 11, 1927, in Moline, IL, the son of Delmar and Berniece (Greenwalt) Morgan. He married Betty Stotmeister on November 16, 1945, at Zion Lutheran Church in East Moline.
John worked as a master carpenter and woodworker for many years of his life. Then from 1978 until 1990 he along with his wife became the owners and operators of Morgan's Wilderness Camp in Ontario, Canada. After that, John worked for Laborers for Christ.
John was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in East Moline for 68 years. He helped build the church and was most active in his earlier years. He was a great woodworker and enjoyed fishing. John was a very loving man and a big hugger. More than anything, he loved spending time with his wife, children, family, and friends.
