John W. Smith

John W. Smith, 76, of Moline, IL, passed away, March 15, 2025, at Trinity Rock Island.

Per the family’s wishes, no services are to be held. Cremation rites have been accorded. Inurnment will be at the Rock Island National Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the family.

John was born on April 12, 1948, in Moline, IL, the son of John Jacob and Eulalia (Lundberg) Smith. He married Joyce Mital on April 20, 1968, in Moline. She preceded him in death on December 8, 2024. John is a Veteran, having served in the United States Marine Corps. He worked as a Carpenter and a Building Trades Teacher at UTHS and with the local union. John enjoyed spending his time woodworking and shooting pool.

Survivors include his son, Robert Smith, and granddaughters, Olivia and Abigail.

He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, and son, Jeff Smith.
