Joseph D. Garcia

Joseph D. Garcia, 79, of Silvis passed away on Friday, June 16, 2023 at WeslyLife Illini Restorative Care in Silvis.

Funeral Mass will be 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 22, 2023  at Our Lady of Guadalupe, 800 17th St, in Silvis.  Visitation will be from 4 - 6 p.m. on Wednesday at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd.  A Rosary will be recited at 3:30 p.m.  Inurnment will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery in East Moline.

Joseph was born on October 5, 1943 in Moline the son of Joseph and Lupe Picon Garcia.  He married Angie D. Prieto on May 1, 1965 in Silvis.

Joseph was employed with the Rock Island Railroad for 11years and then as a journeyman machinist with John Deere Harvester for 36 years retiring in 2009.  He was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church.  Joseph loved to collect different things, but truly above all was his love for his family especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, Angie; children, Stephen (DeeDee) Garcia, Stephanie Alaniz (Randy Bourn) and Kevin (Niki) Garcia; grandchildren, Alex Alaniz, Isaac Alaniz, Andre Alaniz, Anthony Garcia, Jacob Garcia Noah Garcia; great grandchildren, Sophia, Aliyah, Micah and a great grandson on the way; siblings, Daniel Garcia, Lori Tharp, Debra Vruble, Cynthia Killian, Rosie Burnett and Trish Desseyn and many more extended family members.

Joseph was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Fred Garcia.
