Joseph F. Lax, 82, of Orion, passed away on Friday, March 11, 2016 at UnityPoint Health Trinity Rock Island.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. on Monday, March 14, 2016 at Mary Our Lady of Peace, 1410 10th Street, Orion. Visitation will be from 2:00 - 5:00 p.m. today at Kirk, Huggins and Esterdahl Funeral Home, Ltd. 1301 4th Street, Orion with a rosary at 1:30 p.m. Burial will be at Western Township Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the family.
Joe was born on August 9, 1933 in Sleepy Eye, Minnesota the son of Joseph and Frances Linsmeier Lax. He married Barbara Switzer on September 12, 1956 in Sleepy Eye and she preceded him in death on January 22, 1965.
Joe was a veteran of the United States Air Force. In his younger years he was a farmer then went on to become an operating engineer and owned Joe Lax and Sons Excavating; upon retirement he was a handyman and could fix about anything.
Joe loved to dance, play cards and drink his coffee all day long above all Joe just loved people.

Joe was preceded in death by his wife; son; George; parents; brother, Albert; sisters; Clarice & Frances.
