Joseph "Joe" Penca

Joseph E. Penca, 94, of East Moline, passed away Monday, January 31, 2022, at his home.

Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 am on Monday, February 7, 2022, at Christ the King Catholic Church, 3209 60th St, Moline, IL 61265.  Visitation will be from 2 pm to 4 pm Sunday, February 6, 2022, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd, Moline. Burial will be at St Mary’s Cemetery in East Moline, with military honors conducted by the East Moline American Legion Post 227.  Memorials may be made to Christ the King Catholic Church or UnityPoint Hospice.

Joe was born on June 10, 1927, in Silvis, the son of Anton and Teresa (Perkovic) Penca. He married Ursula Tragarz on October 11, 1958, in Moline. She proceeded him in death on March 14, 2016. Joe served in WWII as a member of the United States Navy. He was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church. Joe worked as an electrician at Case IH, East Moline, retiring in 1991. He was a member of the East Moline American Legion Post 227, U.A.W Local 1304, and Short Hills Caddie Club. Joe was also a long-time member of SNPJ. His family was his everything and he always put them first.

Survivors include his son, Joseph S. Penca; daughters, Kathleen Penca, Patricia (William) Schaeffer, and Mary Ann (Rod) Brown; grandchildren, Kristen (Sebastian) Blank, Hans (Katie) Schaeffer, JohnPatrick (Lauren) Brown, Clarice Brown, and MiKayla Penca; 3 great-grandchildren; and twin brother Tony (Bernadette) Penca, Carbon Cliff, IL.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and grandson, James Schaeffer.
