Joshua Paul Smith

Joshua Paul Smith, 37, of Davenport, passed away on December 22, 2023.

A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on January 6, 2024, at River House in Moline. Cremation rites have been accorded. Donations may be made to his children’s GoFundMe page (https://gofund.me/62bce9a3).

Joshua was born on July 3, 1986, in Iowa Falls, the son of Janet (McKinnie) and Paul Smith.  He has three loving children, Evelyn Lee, Theodore Merlin and Liam Samuel Harrison.  Joshua will be remembered as a loving and quick-witted father, son, brother, partner and friend.  He had a gift for storytelling and writing.  Joshua found immense joy in teaching his children to play games. He also loved to read, listen to music, and cook.  Video games, Dungeons and Dragons and watching Critical Role’s many campaigns were his favorite pastimes.  

Joshua was a mental health professional and worked for the Robert Young Center Community Support Program. He was a case worker and helped people get resources they needed. He cared greatly for his clients and always wanted to help people in his professional and personal life. He lived by the motto “Don’t forget to love each other”. 

Survivors include his children, parents, and partners, Katelyn McKone, Emma Elam and Sarah Herman; along with his siblings Jacob (Karen) Smith, Darla (Justin) Kerwin; maternal grandparents Raymond and Judy McKinnie; and nephews Peter, Conner and Jack Kerwin.  He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents.
