Judith was born on March 18, 1941, at the Lutheran Hospital in Moline, IL, the daughter of Hazel and Lyman Swanson. She married the love of her life, David L. Emmert, on December 22, 1961.
She graduated from Moline High Schol in 1959, the first class to graduate from the new high school building. Then she graduated from Hurley Beauty School, Moline. She was at Carol’s Hairstyling Salon for several years. As she raised her children, she enjoyed being a co-cub scout leader, secretary for the Lincoln-Irving PTA, a crossing guard, and a kindergarten teacher’s aide, all for her children’s school. She was employed at Moline Public and Lutheran Hospitals then retired in 2001 from UnityPoint Trinity Hospital, Rock Island after 20 years.
Judie enjoyed reading, crocheting, and spending time with her family and much-loved grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved going to her grandchildren’s school and sport activities when she could.
Special thanks to Barb Marlin, parish nurse, for all her prayers and home visits, to dear friend Janet Cook, and to her best friend Sharon Hoaglund of over 60 years, which never a day went by without a phone call.
She is survived by a son, Brad Emmert, Moline, and his children, Christopher (Bonnie), Adam (Daphne), and Jennah (Nate Beachler); a daughter, Beth (Mike) Amlong, Orion, and their children, David (Jennelle) and Lisa (Dan) Shultz; and a son, Greg (Denise) Emmert, Moline, and their child, Tylor (Amanda); step-grandchildren, Robert and Renee Trista; 10-great-grandchildren and 13 step-great-grandchildren
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, David.
Judie will be deeply missed by all those left to cherish her memory. Her strength, courage, and faith was an inspiration to all who knew her.
