Karen McMaster, 79, of Hepner, OR, formerly of Moline, passed away in her sleep Thursday, June 23, 2022.
Cremation rites have been accorded. We will be leaving the Hy-Vee parking lot on Ave. of the Cities, Moline at 1:45PM and traveling together to a graveside service held at 2:30PM on Friday, September 23, 2022, at Rock Island National Cemetery. There will be a reception afterwards at Bierstube Moline for sharing memories of Karen. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the National Federation of the Blind (nfbofillinois.org).
Karen was born on March 4, 1943, in Oakland, CA, the daughter of John and Margaret (Conley) Nelson. She was raised by John and Dorothy (Reischling) Nelson. She married William H. McMaster on January 5, 1973, in Rock Island. Karen was a former member of First Presbyterian Church, Milan. She enjoyed her family, being a caregiver, playing bingo, game shows, reading mysteries and westerns, cooking, sewing and adventure.
Survivors include her daughters, Katy (Greg) Wilson and Angela McMaster; grandchildren, Sara (Kevin) Lundy, Mike Wilson, Page Wilson, and Moth Wilson; 2 great grandchildren; and brother, Joe Nelson.
She was preceded in death by her husband and parents.
