Karin Ruth Kahler

Karin R. Kahler, 82, of East Moline, passed away, Tuesday, July 12, 2022, at Illini Restorative Care, Silvis.

Graveside services will be held at Noon, Friday, July 15, 2022, at Riverview Cemetery, 2925 Niles Road, St. Joseph, Michigan. Visitation will be from 4-6 p.m., Thursday, July 14, 2022, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., Moline. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to your local no kill animal shelter.

Karin was born on December 20, 1939, in Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of William G. and Ruth Beatrice (Raschke) Kahler. She earned her Master’s degree in Library Science and her Bachelor’s degree in Education with a focus on English. Karin was employed as a teacher at United Township High School, retiring after over thirty years. She enjoyed spending her time reading, reminiscing with her family and friends, and her cats.

Survivors include her nieces, Kathleen M. (Mark) Risley, and Rebecca R. (Jimmy) Stewart; nephews, Kristopher (Nicole) Kahler; brother, Karl; W. (Sharon) Kahler; sister, Klarene Cartee, dear friend and best friend since college, Ruth Corliss; and two sons.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Karin will be missed by family, friends, and by countless generations of students she proudly taught at United Township High School.
