Kathleen K. Heyvaert, 83, of Moline, IL, died Tuesday, May 23, 2017, at Hope Creek Care Center, East Moline, IL.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, May 26, 2017, at Christ the King Catholic Church, 3209 60th Street, Moline.  Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, May 25, 2017, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., 6601 38th Avenue, Moline.  Burial will be at the National Cemetery at the Rock Island Arsenal.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family for a fund to be established for Kathleen’s brother, Bill Jones, who is ill.

Kathleen was born on July 26, 1933, in Allenville, WI, the daughter of James Lyall and Mildred E. Stephenson Jones.  She married Gilbert H. Heyvaert on May 28, 1955, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Moline, and he preceded her in death on May 15, 2015.  She worked for the IL Dept. of Employment and Security in Moline, Galesburg, and Peoria for 8 years, retiring in 2001.  Prior to that, she taught as a cosmetology teacher at the Sterling Cosmetology School for 30 years.

Kathleen was a devoted member of Christ the King Catholic Church in Moline, where she additionally served as a Eucharistic Minister, ushered, and was a past president and member of CKARP.  She was also a member of Clara Lodge #118 Viking Club in Moline, Moline American Legion Post 246 Auxiliary, and VFW Post 2153 Auxiliary.  Throughout her life, Kathleen continued her education by taking classes at Blackhawk College, Moline Business School, and the Sangamon Teacher’s College in Springfield.

Survivors include her children, Mary K. (Stephen) Gang, Rock Island, IL, Susan Heyvaert, Englewood, CO, Christine Ames, Elizabeth, CO, Joanne (Christopher) Storbeck, Scottsdale, AZ, Donna (Robert Meikle) Heyvaert, Cedar Rapids, IA; grandchildren, Emily (Jeff) Trask, Davenport, IA, Alison (Levi) Plamondon, Centennial, CO, Paul R. Sitzmann, Phoenix, AZ, Jennifer Sitzmann, Petty Officer 1st Class, U.S. Navy, Aurora, CO, Robin Jarmon, Cedar Rapids, IA, Sarah Jarmon, Cedar Rapids, IA, and Sean Jarmon, Marion, IA; great grandchildren, Ethan Hernandez, Lilah Kathleen Hernandez, and Brynn Plamondon; sisters, Patricia Fitzsimmons, Bellevue, WA, and Lauren Andersen, Neenah, WI; brothers, William Jones, Fort Collins, CO, James L. (Carole) Jones, Des Moines, IA, Andrew (Vicki) Jones, Moline, IL, John (Pam) Jones, Moline, IL, Michael (Ruth “Peach”) Jones, Neenah, WI; several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; granddaughter, Julie Anna Grumet; sister, Maureen Bates; brother, Frank Jones; sister-in-law, Laurie Jones; brother-in-law, Gerald Fitzsimmons.
