Kathryn E. Westerdahl Thornbloom, 91, of Rock Island, IL, formerly of Moline, IL, died Monday, July 1, 2013, at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf, IA.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 6, 2013, at Calvary Lutheran Church, 2900 Avenue of the Cities, Moline, IL. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, July 5, 2013, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., 6601 38th Avenue, Moline, IL. Burial will be at Moline Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to Calvary Lutheran Church Building Fund.
Kathryn was born on September 2, 1921, in Wapello County, IA, the daughter of the late Melvin E. and Cecil Mae (Hall) Wilson. She married Harold Westerdahl on March 14, 1943, in Rock Island, IL, and he preceded her in death on April 9, 1977. She later married Clifford Thornbloom on August 12, 1983, at Calvary Lutheran Church, Moline, and he preceded her in death on July 22, 2003.
Kathryn graduated from Moline Public Hospital as a Registered nurse. She was employed by Moline Public Hospital for 22 years as well as working as a private duty nurse.
She was active at Calvary Lutheran Church Participating in the Deborah Circle, Happy Hookers (Crafts, etc.), and The Card Ministry. She was active in The Moline Horticultural Society, Moline Senior Citizen Center, Calvary Lutheran Church, and the American Red Cross. Kathryn enjoyed crocheting, making crafts and was an avid gardener.

Son Dr. Howard (Judy) Westerdahl Happy Valley, OR

She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Robert Westerdahl; grandson, Christopher Westerdahl; and sister, Madge Wilson Sohl.
