Kay Brewer, age 72, of Moline, died Friday, November 21, 2008 at her residence.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 26, 2008 at Christ Episcopal Church, 1717-8th Avenue, Moline. Visitation is from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Tuesday at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd. 6601-38th Avenue, Moline. Cremation rites will be accorded and burial will be at a later date. Memorials may be made to Christ Episcopal Church, Moline.
Kay was born July 31, 1936 in Moline, the daughter of Chester and Helen (Dietrich) Anderson. She married Ralph Brewer on December 23, 1967 in Moline.
Before she retired, Kay was employed as a teacher at Scott Community College, and ran the family real estate investments. She was a member of Christ Episcopal Church in Moline, and St. David's Episcopal Church in Spokane where she became the first woman chalice bearer.
After raising a family, she earned her master's degree in reading at Eastern Washinton University. She later earned a master's degree in Math at the University of Pacific in Stockton, CA. Kay had 20 years of teaching in public school systems, most notably in Cusick, WA and Lodi, CA. She was past president of both Moline City union and Silver Chalice Chapter King Daughter's & Son's and currently city union's representative.

She was preceded in death by her parents, first husband, James Hardy, son, Robert Hardy, and daughter Dawn Gray.
