Kenneth "Jim" "Kenny" LaVerne Gregory

Kenneth “Jim” “Kenny” LaVerne Gregory, 86, of Hillsdale, IL, passed away, December 24, 2025, at his home.

Cremation rites have been accorded. Inurnment will take place at a later date. Esterdahl Mortuary and Crematory, Ltd., Moline, is assisting the family. Memorials may be made to the family.

Kenny was born on June 19, 1939, in Kirksville, MO, the son of Oral “Toad” and Mabel (Roberts) Gregory. They moved to Moline, IL when Kenny was 6 years old. Kenny married Connee Sue Eaves, and they had two daughters, Nikki and Stefanie. They later divorced and Kenny raised his daughters. Kenny went on to remarry 2 more times to Jean and Cathie. Although no longer married, Diane Box was his long time companion.

Kenny worked as a Drexel driver for John Deere Parts Distribution Center, Milan for 24 years until retiring in 1998. After retiring, he loved spending several days a week mowing his property. He also enjoyed pool and darts with his friends and playing in leagues over the years. Kenny won several competitions both in the United States and worldwide. He was a devoted NASCAR fan of Dale Earnhardt. Although he lived here, Jim’s heart was always in Missouri at the farm.

Survivors include his daughters, Nikki Gregory-Speidel/Kintz and Stefanie (Randy) Gregory-Williams; grandchildren, Matthew Speidel, Rhiannon Speidel, Dalton Speidel, Jennifer McManigal, Hannah Hall, Scotty McManigal, Ty Williams, and Kourtney Williams; great-grandchildren, James, Cara, Nyla, Sam, Kinzlee, Charles, Kaden, Kyler, Harlow, and Jett.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, and lots of aunts and uncles.
