Kenneth “Henry” James Johnston, 63, of Rock Island, IL, died Tuesday, May 10, 2016, at home.
Visitation will be from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. Friday, May 13, 2016, at Kirk, Huggins & Esterdahl Funeral Home, Ltd., 1301 4th Street, Orion. The family will hold a private graveside service at Sherrard Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Wounded Warriors or to the Jim and Trudy Maloof St. Jude Midwest Affiliate Clinic.
Kenneth was born on November 28, 1952, in Rock Island, IL, the son of Kenneth Maynard and Shirley Kimbell Johnston. He graduated from Sherrard High School in 1970 and then worked in maintenance for the John Deere Parts Depot in Milan, IL, retiring in 2009.
Kenneth loved watching his 3 grandsons sporting events, school youth, and high school events. His grandsons meant the whole world to him. Kenneth was also a Chicago Bears and New York Yankees fan.
Survivors include his 3 sons, Jeremiah (Kristi) Johnston, Kewanee, IL, Luke Johnston, Erie, IL, and Quinn Johnston, Nashville, TN; mother, Shirley Johnston, Moline; 3 grandsons, Eliot Johnston, Meyer Johnston, and Graham Johnston, Kewanee, IL.
He was preceded in death by his father and brother, Jerry.
