Larry G. Miller, 74, of Orion, IL, died Thursday, November 20, 2014, at UnityPoint Health - Trinity Rock Island, Rock Island, IL.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, November 28, 2014, at Kirk, Huggins, & Esterdahl Funeral Home, Ltd., 1301 4th Street, Orion, IL. There will be no visitation. Inurnment will be at Western Township Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Orion Education Foundation.
Larry was born on April 5, 1940, in Cairo, IL, the son of Amos and Gladys Grace Miller. He married Karen Cruse on August 30, 1961, in Cairo, IL.
Larry worked at Orion Community School District #223 where he taught vocal music for 14 years. For 23 years, he served as the principal of Orion High School, retiring in 1999. After his retirement he worked as a substitute teacher for the Orion School District for 15 years.
Larry graduated from Southern Illinois University with a Bachelor's Degree and Master's Degree in Education. Also Larry graduated from Western Illinois University with a Education Specialist Degree. Larry was very involved in all aspects of education and the town of Orion. He was former Citizen of the year for Orion, former Blackhawk Regional Principal of the Year, and Hall of Fame Friend of Orion High School in 2006. He enjoyed walking, writing poems, singing, and playing piano.

Brother-in-law Robert (Carole) Cruse Marion, Illinois
He was preceded in death by his parents.
