LaVerna A. Stromquist

LaVerna A. Stromquist, 95, formerly of Orion and Lynn Center, passed away Tuesday, July 16, 2019, at Bickford of Moline.

Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. on Saturday, July 20, 2019, at Augustana Lutheran Church, Andover.  Burial will be at Andover Township Cemetery, Lynn Center.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.  Memorials may be made to Augustana Lutheran Church.  Kirk, Huggins & Esterdahl Funeral Home, Ltd. is assisting the family.

LaVerna was born on February 5, 1924, in Moline, the daughter of Walter Franklin and Alice Dorothy (Booth) Bennett.  She married James B. Lundahl in Phoenix, AZ, on August 5, 1944.  He preceded her in death in January 1989.  She later married Donald W. Stromquist on September 25, 1993.

LaVerna had been a member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Andover, Women of the ELCA, Henry County Cooperative Extension Council and volunteered at Illini Hospital in Silvis.  As a member of the Augustana Lutheran Church, LaVerna served on council and was a Sunday School Teacher.  She had been employed at Carlson Grocery, Andover, and Hillcrest Nursing Home as an aide and in medical records.

Survivors include her husband, Donald; children Dave B. (Ann) Lundahl, Timnath, CO, Donna (Steve) Begley, Coal Valley; grandchildren, Nicole (Sean) Clark, Durango, CO, Travis (Kristi) Lundahl, Windsor, CO, Stephanie Begley, Highland Ranch, CO, Shawn (Lindsey) Begley, Ellicott City, MD and Jeni Edwards, Avon Park, FL, 8 great grandchildren; and 2 great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Anita Delp; and son, Dan Franklin Lundahl.
