Lawrence E. "Larry" Hancher, 81, of Moline, IL, died July 1, 2015, at UnityPoint Health - Trinity Rock Island, Rock Island, IL.
The family will hold a celebration of life service at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 11, 2015, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., 6601 38th Avenue, Moline. Per his wishes, cremation rites have been accorded and inurnment will be at Davenport Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to Calvary Lutheran Church in Moline.
Larry was born on May 19, 1934, in Algona, IA, the son of Everett and Mabel (Hayes) Hancher. He married Frances Burdell on October 25, 1958, in Moline, IL.
In 1956, he graduated from St. Ambrose College with a degree in Accounting. He joined Deere & Company and worked in a variety of accounting positions, including Consolidations accounting, internal Auditing staffs and as Controller for the East Moline, Denver, Colorado and Stockton, California Parts Depots. In 1961, he transferred to Business Systems and served as a Systems Analyst, Project Manager and retired in 1986 as Manager, Administration, Corporate Computer Systems.
Following retirement from Deere & Co., Larry continued working as a full or part time accounting and systems consultant. He enjoyed many different hobbies and served as an Officer and Director for a number of local organizations.
He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Fran; daughter, Shari (Jeff) Kvam, Kenilworth, IL; sons, Paul Hancher, Des Moines, IA, and Matt (Julie) Hancher, Woodridge, IL; 5 grandchildren, Susanna Kvam, Betsey Kvam, Catherine Kvam, Joshua Hancher, and Nathaniel Hancher.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Lola Charlene, and brother, Lowell Gene.
