Lyla Staton, 80, Moline, passed away on Saturday, October 17, 2026 at Hope Creek Nursing and Rehab Center in East Moline.

A memorial service will be 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 27, 2026 at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., Moline. Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home, Inurnment will be at Greenview Memorial Gardens in East Moline. Memorials may be made to the DAV.

Lyla was born on June 14, 1946 in Galesburg, Illinois the daughter of Herbert and Dorothy Phipps Hook. She married Roger Roady on August 19, 1967. She later married Steven Staton on September 2, 1994 and he preceded her in death on September 21, 1994, also her year’s long companion, Tom “Murph” Murphy.

Lyla was employed with Warwick Publishing Company in St. Charles, Illinois for 15 years. She enjoyed reading, walking and hiking, motorcycles, antiquing, and craft shows. Lyla was a Chicago Bears fan and loved Snoopy. Above all was her true love of family. She was known as being care free and a free spirit.

She is survived by her children; Chris (Leon) Wood, Theresa De Reus and Arlan Syverson; 3 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and siblings; Sheryl, Deana, Janice, Joy, Melody, Marilee and Vincent.

Lyla was preceded in death by her parents.
