Lee W. McMeekin

Lee W. McMeekin, 80, of Orion, IL, passed away, October 20, 2026, at Hillcrest Home.

Cremation rites will be accorded. Inurnment will be at Western Township Cemetery at a later date. Esterdahl Mortuary and Crematory, Ltd., Orion are assisting the family with arrangements.

Lee was born on May 30, 1946, in Moline, IL, the son of Wilmer and Lillian (Bates) McMeekin. He married Theresa (Dean) Gardener in Cambridge, IL, on June 16, 2000. After attending MIT for some time, he worked at the Mental Health Hospital in East Moline as a security guard, then at the East Moline Correctional Center, and later at the Sherrard School District as a custodian. Lee was a farmer outside of Andover, IL.

Survivors include his wife, Theresa; stepson, Gary (Kari) Gardner of Silvis, IL; step grandchildren, Adriana (Marissa) Troche and Michael (Shay) Puig of Silvis, IL; step great-grandchildren, Levi and Luca Puig; as well as several nieces and nephews, including niece Laurie Scott who was his care giver.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
