Leonard D. Gasaway

Leonard D. Gasaway, 73, of Colona, passed away at his residence on June, 14, 2019.

Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. on Monday, June 17, 2019 at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd.  Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the First Southern Baptist Church in Colona, interment will be Oak Grove Cemetery in Port Byron, where military honors will be conducted.  Memorials may be made to the First Southern Baptist Food Pantry.

Leonard was born on July 28, 1945 in Kansas the son of Forestt and Rosanna I. Stueve Gasaway.  He married Kay Porter in 1964 and they later divorced.  He then married Mickey A. Huston on August 25, 1966 at the Baptist Church in Cambridge.

Leonard was employed as a welder with John Deere Harvester Works in East Moline for 35 years retiring in 2004. He also owned his own business L&M Chimney Sweep.  He was a United States Army Veteran having served as a helicopter mechanic.  Leonard was a member of the Colona American Legion as well as the First Southern Baptist Church in Colona.  He was a nine year lung transplant survivor.  He loved his church family, square dancing, camping, and listening to Blue Grass and Gospel music.  Leonard was an avid motorcycle rider and was a former member of ABATE of Illinois and ILLOWA H.O.G. Chapter 449
