Linda J. Wells

Linda J. Wells, 84, formerly of Orion, IL, passed away on Friday, October 9, 2026, at her daughter’s home in Orion surrounded by family.

Graveside services will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, October 16, 2026, at Western Township Cemetery. Cremation rites have been accorded. Esterdahl Mortuary and Crematory, Ltd., Orion is assisting the family. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to MercyOne Genesis Hospice Care.

Linda was born on November 10, 1941, in Kansas City, MO, the daughter of Truman and Hazel (Raglan) Lowry. She married Dennis D. Wells in Mercer, MO on January 18, 1959; he preceded her in death on May 16, 2002.

Linda was lovingly known as a great musician, being an organist and in the Bell choir at the Orion United Methodist Church for years before moving to Florida. She was the organist at Palm Harbor Curlew Methodist Church in Florida. Linda was a former member of the Orion United Methodist Church. Linda taught Piano for years until she retired. She played in a band while she was in Florida. Linda was an avid morel mushroom hunter and she enjoyed gardening. She loved her beloved dog Ruby and going on walks. Linda also loved attending and watching dirt track racing, fishing, traveling, spending time with her friends and family, and taking her granddaughters on their yearly trips.

Survivors include her companion, Laurel Mulvania; daughter, Sherry Murphy of Orion, IL; son, Russell (Brandi) Wells of Orion, IL; grandchildren, Amanda Stoudt-Dudley of Vinton, IA and Rylee Jane Wells of Orion, IL; step-grandchildren, Katharine Murphy of London, U.K. and Christine Murphy of London, U.K.; half-sister, Sue Hinds of WI.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Dennis; granddaughter, Nichole Stoudt.
