Lois Schrage

Lois Mary Schrage, 88, of Rock Island, IL, died Wednesday, February 17, 2016, at Amber Ridge Memory Care, Moline, IL.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, February 19, 2016, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 3300 24th Street, Rock Island, IL. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Immanuel Lutheran Church, where she was a lifetime member. Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., Moline, is assisting the family with arrangements.

Lois was born on March 22, 1927, in Moline, IL, the daughter of Henry D. and Irma E. Moeller Schrage. She graduated from Rock Island High School and Augustana College. In her early years, she taught at area elementary schools. Later, she worked as a reporter, columnist, and editor of the features or society department for the Rock Island Argus. Her column was titled Fluff & Stuff. In 1992, she retired from the Dispatch.

Miss Schrage was an officer of the Lutheran Women's Missionary League and the church Ladies Society and sang in the choir. She served on the boards of Friends of Chamber Music and Quad City Music Guild and appeared in 50 Guild shows. She formerly sang in the Handel Oratorio Society and was a member of the Augustana Endowment Society and the Rock Island County Historical Society.

She is survived by her 8 cousins, including, Shirley (Mike) Smith, Moline, IL, Ginny (Jerry) Dusek, Muscatine, IA, and Richard (Pat) Schrage, Eldridge, IA.

She was preceded in death by her parents, several aunts and uncles, and 1 cousin.
