Lola R. Thomas, 77, of Rock Island, IL, died peacefully on Sunday, June 14, 2015, at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf, IA.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 20, 2015, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., 6601 38th Avenue, Moline. Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be at Rose Lawn Memorial Estates, Moline, IL. Memorials may be made to Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf, IA.
Lola was born on January 28, 1938, in Hillview, IL, the daughter of James Arthur Elza and Josephine Mae Reese Shinn. She married Raymond Branham on December 3, 1955, and he preceded her in death. She later married Jerry Allen Thomas on June 1, 1968, and he preceded her in death on March 21, 2008.
Lola worked as a bindery operator for the Rock Island Arsenal, retiring in 1993. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Her life was centered around her family. She enjoyed playing Tic (cards), fishing, coin collecting, and shopping for Goodwill treasures.
Survivors include her loving children, Neila (David) Fitzpatrick, Rock Island, IL, Charles Branham, Reynolds, IL, Marsha Rosenberg, Montgomery, TX, Chrisney (Clay) Jordan, Beaver City, NE, Darrell (Young Suk) Thomas, Davenport, IA, Lisa (Doug) Kirgan, Milan, IL; 17 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; brother, Noble Shinn, Metropolis, IL; sisters, Estelle (Cecil) Bourland, Jerseyville, IL, and Roberta Hoffman, Silvis, IL; many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; 2 brothers, James and George; 3 sisters, Betty, Doris, and her twin sister, Ola.
