Lon E. Shattuck, 83, of Coal Valley, IL, passed away Thursday, December 1, 2022, at his home with his family by his side.
Visitation will be from 2-5 p.m., Sunday, December 4, 2022, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., Moline. Private burial will be at Glennwood Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Henry County Fair Association or First Baptist Church, Moline, where he was a member.
Lon was born on August 11, 1939, in Moline, the son of Cecil and Ruth (Stout) Shattuck. He married Jackie Rugh on November 29, 1958, in Coal Valley. He was previously employed as a pattern maker for John Deere, retiring in 1992, after 33 years. He was also a devoted caretaker of Glennwood Cemetery. Lon enjoyed working with his hands and restoring classic cars. He also raised show cattle. Lon worked as a farmer and woodworker. Above all, he cherished his time with his two grandsons.
Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Jackie; children, Tara (Rick) Taube, Lon R. Shattuck, Troy (Julie) Shattuck; grandsons, Jesse Shattuck and Dr. Sawyer Shattuck; brother, Vernon (Janie) Shattuck, sister, Karen (Steve) Sayre; sister-in law, Carrol Rugh.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Memories may be shared on the tribute wall.
