Lowell Frye, 98, of Charlotte, North Carolina went home to be with the Lord on June 9, 2025.
Visitation will be on June 27th from 10-11 a.m. with the funeral to follow at 11 a.m. at Faith Walk World Outreach Center, 1450 Avenue of the Cities, Silvis, IL. Interment will be at the Rock Island National Cemetery. Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., Moline, is assisting the family with arrangements. Memorials may be made to the family.
Lowell Alvin Frye was born on March 7, 1927, the son of Lee and Icy Lee Frye in Guin, Alabama. He was a loving husband, devoted father, doting grandfather/great grandfather, loyal friend and faithful servant of the Lord most recently at Christ Church of the Quad Cities, Charlotte Gospel Tabernacle and longtime member at the Moline Gospel Temple.
He was a World War 2 veteran, an avid coon hunter raising world championship dogs, and a great athlete exceling in football and basketball during high school. He retired from John Deere Plow and Planter with 34 years’ service as a molder. He was a master carpenter building his own first house in 1949. He also managed two major church renovations at two different churches, one in Colona and one in Charlotte, NC.
He met and then married the love of his life, Shirley Wiggers, on June 5th, 1949. They were married for 66 years before her death in 2015. Together they raised four children. He loved to tell stories of days gone by to family, friends, or any passerby and loved the fellowship of friends.
Lowell is survived by daughters, Kathy (Hal) Hamilton of Pinetop, AZ, Jill (Richard) Meyer of Tucson, AZ, Julie Hambleton of Daytona Beach, FL; son, Russ Frye of Charlotte, NC; 7 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild, Molly (Don) Lee and their daughters, Jaimie (Cody) Waliszewski and son John and Samantha Lee, Emilee (Neal) Blackford and their daughter, Sophia, and son Joshua, Adam (Allison) Frye and their daughters, Katelyn and Charlotte, Jonathan (Alethia) Frye and their sons, Elijah and Xavier, Joel (Abi) Frye and their daughter Haven, Alex and Hannah Frye; sisters; Iva Lee Franks and Maylene Beeth.
Lowell was preceded in death by his mother, father, sister, Erlean Underwood, daughter-in-law Vanessa Frye and grandson Daniel Madsen.
