Luther Leroy Wages, 81, of Moline, IL, died Tuesday, May 17, 2016, at UnityPoint Health – Trinity Rock Island, Rock Island, IL, surrounded by his loving family.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, May 20, 2016, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., 6601 38th Avenue, Moline. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 19, 2016, at the funeral home. Burial will be at Greenview Memorial Gardens, where military honors will be accorded.
Luther was born on December 11, 1934, in Iowa City, IA, the son of Oscar R. and Edith Cline Wages. He married Roselee Morrow on July 12, 1958, in Mystic, IA. He worked as a maintenance welder and machinist for Farmall. He also worked as an over the road truck driver, retiring in 1985.
Luther was a veteran, having proudly served as a paratrooper in the United States Army. Above all, Luther was very passionate about supporting his family in stock car racing and motocross.
Survivors include his wife, Roselee Wages; children, Rick (Amber) Wages, Colona, IL, Randy Wages, Moline, IL, Rhonda (Bob) Nees, Moline, IL, and Roberta Lynn (Mark) Franklin, Moline, IL; 6 grandchildren, Autumn (Jeff) Stone, FL, Troy (Abbey) Wages, Port Byron, IL, Jessica (Jake) Caudill, Davenport, IA, Emily and Jered Franklin, Moline, IL, and Brennan Wages, Colona; 8 great grandchildren, Cory, Winter, Taylor, Jack, Lila, Finn, Dominick, and Zy’aierra; sister, Alfreda Dover, Unionville, MO.
He was preceded in death by his parents; 3 sisters; 3 brothers.
