Lynn Russell Conklen, 96, of Andover, passed away Thursday, May 19, 2022, at Hillcrest Home, Geneseo.
A rosary will be recited at 10 a.m., Wednesday, May 25, 2022, at Mary Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, Orion. Visitation will follow from 10:30 a.m., until noon at the church with the Funeral Mass to begin at noon. Cremation will follow services and inurnment will be at Andover Cemetery at a later date. Memorials may be made to American Heart Association or the Henry County Humane Society.
Lynn was born on January 22, 1926, in Rock Falls, Illinois, the son of Andrew and Lydia (Rademaker) Conklen. He married Lois Hammelman on September 11, 1949. He later married Irene M. (King) Redecker on August 26, 1988, in Cambridge. Lynn worked as a farmer in the Lydon and Prophetstown area until 1984, and later in the warehouse at Farm and Fleet in Geneseo, retiring on June 30, 2006, at 80 years old. He was a member of Mary our Lady of Peace Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. Lynn enjoyed bowling, woodworking, and telling stories and jokes.
Survivors include his wife, Irene; children, Lori Dykhaizen, Rock Falls, Lisa Hawk (Steve Schryer), Nashville, TN; stepchildren, Mike (Lisa) Redecker, Geneseo, Bob (Ingrid) Redecker, Bettendorf, Ginny (Ray) Brown, Viola, Victoria King (Rick Martin), Osco; grandchildren, Tara (Chris) Hamblem, Nashville, Jordan Dykhuizen, Rock Falls, Brianna Dykhuizen (Daniel Bechtold) Rock Falls, Jake Redecker, Des Moines, Jessica (Kenny) Collis, Geneseo, Colton Brasmer, Viola, Brock Redecker, Bettendorf, Joey Redecker, Bettendorf; great grandchildren, Aubrey and Paxton Hamblen, both of Nashville, and Haley and McKenzie Collis, both of Geneseo.
He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Pete, Wesley, Faulena Hasselman, Helen Streng, Wendelka Near.
