Mai Thi Nguyen

Mai Thi Nguyen was a beautiful woman, both inside and out.  There wasn’t a single person that didn’t love her.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. Saturday, December 4, 2021, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., Moline.  Visitation will be 1-hr prior at the funeral home.  Cremation rites will be accorded after the service.  A luncheon will follow at 2:30 p.m., Saturday, at St. John's Lutheran Church, Rock Island.

Born in Vietnam in 1935, Mai married Phu Dang with whom she had 8 children.  After the fall of the Saigon in 1975, Mai immigrated to the United States with 7 of her children and a grandson.  Upon her arrival to the U.S. Mai and her family were graciously sponsored by St. John’s Lutheran Church in Rock Island, Illinois.

Mai was a devout wife, mother, and Buddhist who loved gardening, cooking and supporting her loved ones.  She also had a wonderful career with Augustana College that spanned over 30-years.

While Mai was taken from our world, her imprint of who she was will never leave.  Mai, until we meet again in Heaven, we will miss you.

Mai leaves to cherish her life, Husband, Phu Dang; Children, Lam, Son & Dung, Nhieu, Nguoi & Thuan, Than, Thich & My, and Thuong & Nguyet; Grandchildren, Hung & Michelle, Cuong, Hanh & and Lee, AiVy, Michael, Tuan & Lisa, Hai & Brother, Donald, Tracy, Jessica, Thi and Nhi; Great Grandchildren, Joshua, Devon, AiVan, Ethan, Mina, Sean, Conner, Matthew, and Asiyah.

Mai was predeceased by her Son, Tai, her Grandchildren, Thanh, Tien, Luan, and Lydia.
