Malia Barnhill, 61, of East Moline, IL, died Sunday, May 29, 2016, at home.
A family directed memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. June 6, 2016, at First Baptist Church, Mount Holly, NC. Per her wishes, cremation rites will be accorded. Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., Moline, is assisting the family with arrangements.
Malia was born on January 28, 1955, in Charlotte, NC, the daughter of Bob and Mary Mingus Trent. She married COL (Ret) David “Barney” Barnhill on October 11, 1974, in Paw Creek, NC. She was self-employed.
Survivors include her loving husband, COL Barney Barnhill, U.S. Army Retired; son, CPT Noah (Tammy) Barnhill, U.S. Army, VA; daughter, Katie Barnhill, Charlotte, NC; sisters, Terri Trent, Charlotte, NC, and Robin (Elias) Sosa, Matthews, NC; brother, Bobby (Susan) Trent of Mt. Holly, NC.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Bob and Mary Trent.
