Mardelle Elaine Engleking, 85, of Moline, IL, died on Monday, March 07, 2016, at UnityPoint Health - Trinity Moline.
A memorial service will be 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 11, 2016, at Riverside United Methodist Church, 712 16th Street, Moline. Visitation will be from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. on Thursday at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., 6601 38 Avenue, Moline. Additional visitation will be 1 hour prior to service time at the church. Inurnment will be at the National Cemetery on the Rock Island Arsenal. Memorials may be made to the church.
Mardelle was born on July 28, 1930, in Savanna, Illinois the daughter of Orrin and Laurel Morrison McKinley. She met her future husband at his appliance shop; she married Herbert F. Engleking on February 28, 1953, in Savanna, and he preceded her in death on September 24, 2015.
Mardelle was a school teacher in several one room schoolhouses. She completed her teaching career with the Elizabeth, Illinois school district. She then became a homemaker. Mardelle enjoyed reading, playing cards and traveling; especially to Florida with her husband. Above all was her love for her husband and her family.
She is survived by her children, Laurie Engleking and Bradley (Karla) Engleking; grandchildren, Amanda (Dan) Sprott, Branden (Rebecca) Engleking, Jenna (Brian) Rauh, Brittany Engleking, and Alyssa (Grant) Jasper; great grandchildren, Kaleb Sprott, Conner and Chloe Jasper, and Isabella Engleking.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
