Margaret A. Kirschenmann, 94, of Rock Island, IL, died Friday, January 15, 2016, at Silver Cross Health & Rehabilitation Pavilion at Friendship Manor, Rock Island, IL.
Funeral Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, January 25, 2016, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., 6601 38th Avenue, Moline, IL. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be at Rock Island Memorial Park. Memorials may be given to First Evangelical Free Church or to Friendship Manor.
Margaret was born on September 16, 1921, in Moline, IL, the daughter of Roy F. and Edith W. Roberts Brashar. Margaret attended Rock Island Public Schools and Augustana College. She married Warren F. Thiesen on October 12, 1946, and he preceded her in death in August of 1984. She later married Reinhold Kirshenmann on March 7, 1987, and he preceded her in death in August of 2015.
Margaret had been employed by First National Bank in Rock Island, the Rock Island Arsenal, Deere & Company, Uptown Bank, and Trevor's Hardware Gift Shop. She was active as the president of YWCA Rock Island Board. Margaret organized Y-Wives and served on the K.D., City Union Board. She was a member of Agnes Hirst King's Daughter Circle, Augustana Endowment Society, and PEO Chapter BL. Moline. She volunteered at Moline Lutheran Hospital, Christian Friendliness and Meals on Wheels. Margaret participated in Bible Fellowship Study and Nancy Rollinger Bible Classes. She was a former member of South Park Presbyterian Church and Church of Peace where she was a Sunday school teacher and a member of church board as well as the financial staff. She was president of Women's Guild. Margaret was a member of First Evangelical Free Church where she served as a Deaconess, was on the Missionary Board and White Cross.
Her hobbies included oil and China painting, crewel embroidering and needlepoint. She loved to travel.
Survivors include her son, Mark W. Thiese, AZ; daughter, Jean M. Brown, Festus, MO; nieces, Sandra Riggi and Nancy Threadgill, AZ; nephews, Robert and Ronald Brashar; stepsons, Dale (Annette) Kirschenmann, Colona, Terry (Kim) Kirschenmann, Moline; step daughter-in-law, Tara Kirschenmann, Moline; 5 step grandchildren; 3 step great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Warren and Reinhold; brothers, Robert and Richard; sister, Elizabeth Williams.
