Margaret A. Wilt, 98, of Moline, IL, died Saturday, August 2, 2014, at Hope Creek Care Center, East Moline, IL.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, August 8, 2014, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., 6601 38th Avenue, Moline. A graveside service will be 2:30 on Friday at the Oakwood Cemetery in Macomb, IL. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m., Thursday, August 7, 2014 at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Moline Bethel Wesley United Methodist Church Memorial Fund.

Margaret was born on January 11, 1916, in Shawnee, OK, the daughter of Arthur and Clara Betts Fowler. She married Kermit Wilt on June 30, 1939, in Peoria, IL. He preceded her in death in 1994.

Margaret worked first as a teacher and later as Dean of Girls at John Deere Junior High School, starting in the Adair School District and then in the Moline School District from 1937 until her retirement in 1973. She and Jack Brown were the only teachers awarded the American Legion Award. Margaret was a member of the Kings Daughters, Jane Addams Circle, and Moline Bethel Wesley United Methodist Church. She volunteered at Moline Public Hospital for over 50 years. She also enjoyed playing Bridge and Bingo.

She was preceded in death by her granddaughter; Rebecca Free Shonle and son-in-law; Roger Free.
