Margaret "Margie" Escalada

Margaret “Margie” Escalada, 83, of Lynn Center, IL, died Saturday, April 16, 2016, at home.
Per her wishes, cremation rites have been accorded and memorial services will be held at a later date. Burial will be at Valley View Cemetery in Garden City, KS. Kirk, Huggins & Esterdahl Funeral Home, Ltd., Orion, is assisting the family with arrangements.
Margie was born on August 3, 1932, in Garden City, KS, the daughter of Phillip and Eufelia Quintana Escalada. She loved living in Garden City and loved using her creativity to work as a floral designer. For over 40 years, she worked for Porter’s Flowers in Garden City, retiring to care for her mother. Following her mother’s passing, she worked as a switchboard operator for St. Catherine’s Hospital from 2000 – 2012.
Margie loved being a proud a member of the VFW. Above all, she never said “No” to dessert.
Survivors include her grandchildren, Lacey, Logan, Johnathan; brothers, George (Carmen) Escalada, Jesse (Ruby) Escalada, and John (Elva) Escalada; sister, Jane (Fred) Rodriguez; several nieces and nephews, grand nieces and nephews, and great grand nieces and nephews; many more special friends and family, including Cheryl and L.D. Kniedens.
She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Diana; brothers, Phil, Tony, and Larry.
