Marian DeCloedt Edwards, 95, of Fairborn, OH, formerly of Moline, died Monday, November 25, 2013, at her home with Hospice and her family at her side. She was preceded in death by her husband, Col. John "Curly" Edwards; parents; son, Timothy DeCloedt; son-in-law, George S. Toth; daughter-in-law, Cheryl DeCloedt; sister, Helen Johnson; and brother, George Johnson.
Marian was born in Moline, IL, the daughter of William and Florence Johnson. She attended Moline public schools and married Oscar DeCloedt in June of 1940 after which the family relocated to Wright Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio from his job at the Arsenal. She later was married to Col. John "Curly" Edwards for 37 years until his death in 2006.
Marian retired as a technical librarian from WPAFB and belonged to Delta Theta Tau Sorority. She and her late husband loved to travel in the U.S. and abroad visiting family and friends after retirement.
She is survived by her children: William (Angela) DeCloedt, Susan (DeCloedt) Toth & Michael (Lynn) DeCloedt; grandchildren: Derek (Leslie) DeCloedt, Scott (Chelsea) DeCloedt, Michael (Alicia) Toth, Emily (Clint) Francis & Kathryn DeCloedt; 5 great grandchildren: Ian & Evan DeCloedt, Lane & Cort Toth and Pfeiffer Francis; sisters, Betty Johnson & Donna Johnson of Moline.
Visitation will be held at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., 6601 38th Avenue, Moline, on Saturday, December 14, 2013, from 10 to 11 a.m. followed by interment at Riverside Cemetery, Moline, IL. In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to Hospice of Dayton, 324 Wilmington Ave, Dayton, Ohio 45420, Attn: Foundation. Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., Moline, is assisting the family with arrangements.
