Marilyn J Ballegeer

Marilyn Jean Ballegeer, 84, of East Moline, IL, died Monday, December 15, 2014, at home.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, December 19, 2014, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, 201 1st Street, Colona, IL. There will be a visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, December 18, 2014, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd. Burial will be at St. Mary's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, it was Marilyn's wish for memorials may be made to the family for a fund to be established.

Marilyn was born on May 13, 1930, in Moline, IL, the daughter of William and Muriel Loding Schwenneker. She married Francis U. Ballegeer on September 16, 1950, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in East Moline. She worked as a secretary for John Deere. She later worked for Fiers Plumbing and Heating.

Marilyn was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Colona and the St. Martha's Altar and Rosary Society. She volunteered for 21 years for Illini Auxiliary and enjoyed mushroom hunting, dancing, and bowling. She also enjoyed playing Scrabble and cards with her card club.

Marilyn was an excellent baker and loved to bake "foyntens" and belguim cookies. She had a green thumb for flowers and gardening. She always looked forward to picking strawberries and her yearly birthday trip to the boat.

More than anything, Marilyn loved sitting on her deck overlooking the Ballegeer Lake with her husband Francis and loving her children and grandchildren. She loved being a farmer's wife.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Anna Mae Siervert; daughter, Sherry McKeag.
