Marilyn E. Forslund, 93, of Normal, formerly of Moline, IL, died Friday, May 26, 2017, at Heritage Health, Normal, IL.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. with a visitation one hour prior to the service on Wednesday, May 31, 2017, at First Covenant Church, 3303 41st Street, Moline. Burial will be at the National Cemetery at the Rock Island Arsenal. Memorials may be made to First Covenant Church.
Marilyn was born on July 23, 1923, in St. Cloud, MN, the daughter of Gunnard and Ruth Larson.
She graduated from high school in St. Cloud, MN, attended North Park College in Chicago, IL, and graduated from Augsburg College in Minneapolis, MN. Marilyn married William H Forslund on October 17,1953 in Moline, IL
Marilyn was a veteran, having proudly served in the United States Navy during WWII as a Wave Spl 0 2nd CL from September 1943 through December 1945. Later, she became a member of the Mississippi Valley Unit 105 Ex-Wave Chapter.
She moved from Minnesota to Moline, IL to be a parish worker at First Covenant Church, where she has been a longtime member. She worked as a secretary for John Deere Co. in Moline for 16 and a half years, retiring in 1984.
Survivors include her husband, William H. Forslund; daughter, Lee Ann (David) Held, Normal, IL; grandson, Andrew (Marissa) Held, great-granddaughter, Inara Held, Normal, IL; granddaughter, Allison Held, Normal, IL & fiancé, Matt Coates, Peoria, IL; Sisters, Janice Hanson, Canby, MN, and Doreen Anderson, Bloomington, MN; many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents & sister Shirley Wicklund.
