Marilyn Spires, 84, of Bettendorf, IA, peacefully passed away at her home, Tuesday, July 07, 2015.
A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, July 13, 2015, at Macon County Memorial Park in Decatur, IL. Per her wishes, cremation rites have been accorded. Memorials may be made to the family. Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., Moline, is assisting the family with arrangements.
Marilyn was born on May 7, 1931, in Decatur, IL, the daughter of Elwood and Mabel Gould Potts. On March 31, 1950, she married Dale Spires. Dale and Marilyn had 2 daughters, Sharon and Denise.
Throughout her life, Marilyn was a devout Christian Scientist. She was an accomplished seamstress, pianist, and vocalist. She enjoyed participating in Sweet Adelines and served as president of the Decatur Chapter. Marilyn traveled often with her family and was able to visit 49 states, Canada, Mexico, and Europe during her lifetime.
Marilyn is survived by her daughter, Sharon Solomonson; grandchildren, Andrea (David) Wyant and Kyle Solomonson.
She is preceded in death by her parents; sister, Thelma Ferrill; husband; daughter, Denise; son-in-law, Marvin.
