Martin "Marty" B. Winthurst, 71, of Port Byron, IL, died Thursday, August 27, 2015, at Genesis Medical Center - Silvis Campus, Silvis, IL.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 9, 2015, at Wildwood Church, 18717 Hubbard Road, East Moline, IL. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the church on Wednesday. Burial will be at Greenview Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to Wildwood Church.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, August 31, 2015, at Wildwood Church, 18717 Hubbard Road, East Moline, IL. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday, August 30, 2015, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., 6601 38th Avenue, Moline, IL. Burial will be at Greenview Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to Wildwood Church.

Martin was born on May 6, 1944, in East Moline, IL, the son of Fred and Myrtle Hutchison Winthurst. He married Sandra J. Schmooke on February 7, 1963, in East Moline, IL. He worked in maintenance for Deere & Co., retiring in 1994.

Marty was a member of Wildwood Baptist Church. He enjoyed fishing, golf, and playing cards with his family. He was a die-hard Cubs fan.

Survivors include his loving wife, Sandra; children, Chris (Frank) Jett, Franklin, TN, Troy (Diana) Winthurst, Moline, IL, and Dawn (Dan) Wassell, Port Byron, IL; 5 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; sisters, Mary Gillespie, East Moline, IL, and Marsha (Stan) Larson, Moline, IL.

He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 grandsons; 4 brothers.
