Mary Ellen Biggs, 86, of Moline, IL, died Tuesday, August 25, 2015, at Rosewood Care Center, Moline, IL.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, August 29, 2015, at Christ the King Catholic Church, 3207 60th Street, Moline. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. with a Rosary at 3:30 p.m. Friday, August 28, 2015, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., 6601 38th Avenue, Moline. Burial will be at Fulton Township Cemetery. Memorials may be made to The ARC of the Quad Cities.
Mary was born on August 6, 1929, in Fulton, IL, the daughter of J. Edward and Bernadette Foreman Kustes. She married Kenneth Biggs on May 19, 1952, in Sterling, IL, and he preceded her in death on October 6, 1999. She worked in the payroll department of Clarence Bendle & Associates for 25 years, retiring in 1986. She also worked at Longfellow School library and Garfield. Mary volunteered at several places, including MAC Moline Community Center., Mother's Club for the ARC, Seton School, and Moline Police Department.
Mary was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church. She enjoyed reading and loved playing cards - especially, Pinochle, 500, and Euchre.
Survivors include her daughters, Kathryn (LeRoy) Trout, Karen (Charles) Gibbs, Michelle (Jesse) Hamby, Julia Biggs, and Renae (Joel) Zeitler; 14 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; sister, Frances Powers.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; 3 brothers, Virgil Lemmel, Jesse Lemmel, and John Kustes, Jr.; sister, Dorothy Pannell.
