Maryon Chaney, 90, of Orlando, FL, and formerly of East Moline, IL, died Wednesday, January 16, 2013, at her daughter, Terry's, home in Orlando, FL.
Funeral Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, January 25, 2013, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., 6601 38th Avenue, Moline, IL. Visitation will be from 12 to 1 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be at National Cemetery at Rock Island Arsenal where Military Honors will be performed by the Moline American Legion Post #246. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Living Lands & Waters, 17624 Route 84 North, East Moline, IL, 61244.
Maryon was born on April 2, 1922, in Moline, IL, the daughter of Oscar and Oma (Millen) Anderson. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from Western Illinois University. She married Kyle Chaney on March 4, 1948, in East Moline, IL. He preceded her in death in April of 2004. Maryon was a 2nd Lieutenant United States Army Corp. nurse during World War II and later for the former Lutheran Hospital in Moline and also she worked as a relief nurse for John Deere, retiring in 1984. Maryon was a former member of the Port Byron American Legion, Watertown Baptist Church, Hampton PTA, and the Cub Scouts while her children were young. She was a member of the Audubon Society and Friends of Riverside Park as well as a nurse for the Crippled Children's Foundation in the Quad Cities. She enjoyed a good book, a cup of coffee, and watching the Mississippi River.
