Maxine O Layer

Maxine O. Layer, 84, of Milan, passed away Friday, October 28, 2022, at River Crossing of Moline.

A memorial visitation will be 4pm to 6pm, Wednesday, November 2, 2022, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., Moline, with a celebration of life to follow from 6:30pm to 8:30pm at Riverfront Grille, 4619 34th street, Rock Island, IL, 61201 . Memorials may be made to the American Lung Association.

Maxine was born on November 19, 1937, in Moline, the daughter of Cloyce and Fern (Miller) Mountain. She married Kenneth Layer on May 6, 1959, in Moline. Maxine was previously employed in logistics at Kraft Foods in Milan, retiring in the early 1980’s. Upon retirement, she returned to college. She enjoyed sports and in her younger years was active in golf, tennis, and swimming. Maxine enjoyed her independence.

Survivors include daughters, Linda L. Housby, Rock Island, IL, and Tracey A. (Kerry) Dunn, Green Bay, WI; grandchildren, Elizabeth (Nick Conner) Gustafson, Justin, TX, Brittany (Matt) Roach, Grand Prairie, TX, Adam Goodman, St. Louis, MO, Sydney (Francesco) Pasolini, Sycamore, IL; great grandchildren, Londen Gustafson, Katherine Roach, Dominic Pasolini; sister, Judith Zimmerman, Bettendorf, IA.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Christine L. Jones; son-in-law, Edward Housby; parents; and siblings, Beatrice Peterson, Cloyce “Jake” Mountain, Jr., Robert “Bob” Mountain, Mary Jane Zarhringer, Loretta Diehl.
