Michael R. Schmelzle, 68, of Orion, IL, died Monday, January 11, 2016, at home.
Per his wishes, there will be no services and cremation rites will be accorded. Inurnment will be at Veteran's Home in Quincy, IL, at a later date. Kirk, Huggins & Esterdahl Funeral Home, Ltd., Orion, is assisting the family with arrangements.
Michael was born on February 12, 1947, in Jacksonville, IL, the son of Wilmer and Coletta Locke Schmelzle. He worked as a district manager for Berry & Bearing in Moline for 28 years. Michael was a veteran, having proudly served in the United States Air Force.
Survivors include his half-brother, Randy Allen, Kalamazoo, MI; step brother, Roger Nebe, TX; niece, Tracy Holtman, Quincy, IL; brother-in-law, Ronald D. Weimelt, Quincy, IL.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister.
