Michael Lee Swanson

Michael “Mike” Lee Swanson, 76, of East Moline, passed away February 21, 2024, at his home.

Per his wishes cremation rites have been accorded and there will be no services.  Memorials may be made to his family.  Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., Moline, is assisting the family.  

Mike was born on June 24, 1947, in Rock Island, IL, the son of Dorothy (Renner) and Walter Swanson. He married Sandra Lee Shaw on July 17, 1976, at the Edgington Presbyterian Church. She preceded him in death on March 13, 2005. Mike worked at Case New Holland for 33 years retiring in 2004.  He loved being outdoors, but he especially loved to hunt, fish, garden, and do yard work. Mike was a huge Cubs, Bears, and Illini Fan. In the springtime, Mike was a happy camper, he always went to scavenge morel mushrooms and catch crappie.

Survivors include his daughter Dawn; grandchildren Nate, Kaylic, and Kessandra; significant other and special friend Betty Sommers; nephews and nieces, Brian Swanson, Tammy Booker, Michelle Terrill, Kevin Swanson, Eric Hampton, Steven Hampton, Ian Hampton, Brett Johnson, Kylie Johnson; siblings Bob (Sinda) Swanson and Phylis (Steve) Hampton as well as numerous other cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents Dorothy and Walter, and wife Sandra.
