Mike Milan Komadino, 93, of Moline, IL, died Wednesday, January 09, 2013, at Marigold Rehab & Health Care Center, Galesburg, IL.
Funeral Services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, January 11, 2013, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., 6601 38th Avenue, Moline. Visitation will be from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be at National Cemetery at Rock Island Arsenal where Military Honors will be performed by Moline American Legion Post #246. Memorials may be made to Edgewood Baptist Church of Rock Island.
Mike was born on September 9, 1919, in a box car in Silvis, IL, the son of George and Mary (Polich) Komadino. He married Beverely Hudson on February 4, 1955, in Davenport, IA. Mike worked as a machinist for the Rock Island Arsenal for 30 years, retiring in 1983. He was a United States Army Veteran of WWII as well as a member of the Arsenal Employees Golf Baracuda Group. Mike loved the time he spent as a boxer and trainer. He was a 5 time Golden Glove Champion and an Olympic Trial contestant traveling all around the country to places including Madison Square Garden in New York. For 50 years Mike was in the Caddy Club at Short Hills Country Club. He especially loved his annual fishing trips up north and spending time with family and friends.
