Millicent "Millie" M. Hodges Bjurstrom, 88, of East Moline, IL, died Wednesday, January 28, 2015, at Illini Restorative Care, Silvis, IL.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, February 3, 2015, at Calvary Lutheran Church, 2900 Avenue of the Cities, Moline. Visitation will be from 3 to 6 p.m. Monday, February 2, 2015, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., 6601 38th Avenue, Moline. Burial will be at National Cemetery at Rock Island Arsenal. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Calvary Lutheran Church, Moline Senior Activity Center, or a charity of your choice.
Millie was born on March 30, 1926, in Swan Quarter, NC, the daughter of Edward and Rosalie Rose Hodges. She married Donald A. Bjurstrom on December 21, 1945, in Charlotte, NC, and he preceded her in death on December 2, 1992.
Millie retired from Consolidated Freightways, Rock Island, in 1987 after 20 years. She was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church and Guild, Moline; Moline Township Activity Center; Red Hatters; Women's Traffic Club; Mississippi Valley Quilting Guild and U.S. Subvets. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, and casino bus trips. She especially enjoyed crossword puzzles and watching Jeopardy.
