Millicent Lillian Reeder

Millicent Lillian "Millie" Reeder, age 93, of Rock Island, died Friday, October 1, 2010, at Illini Restorative Care, Silvis.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 9, 2010 at 15th Avenue Christian Church, Rock Island with an additional hour visitation prior to the service. Visitation is 4:00-6:00 p.m. Friday at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd. 6601-38th Avenue, Moline. Burial will be at Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
Millie was born February 19, 1917 in Clinton, IA, the daughter of Charles and Sarah (McNinch) Frey. She married Edwin W. "Bud" Reeder on February 11, 1938 in Rock Island. He preceded her in death on February 17, 2010.
Previous to her employment as a clerk in the medical department at Royal Neighbors of America, Millie was a homemaker. She was a member of 15th Avenue Christian Church for 72 years, where she taught Sunday school, was a member of C.W.F. and volunteered for many church projects. Millie was a Girl Scout and 4 H leader, was a member of the Honor Bright Circle of the Kings Daughters and Sons, and was a volunteer at Trinity, Rock Island making bears for children. She and her late husband were members of the Quad Ranglers Group and other local square dance groups. Millie enjoyed playing bridge, as well as other card games, dominoes, crocheting, and was a creative seamstress for her daughters, and nieces. She loved to play golf, she and her husband traveled extensively, and wintered in Melbourne, FL. She loved growing African Violets. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, family, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Carl & Todd Frey, sister, Geraldine Frey, sons in law, Bob Hovis, and Kenny Christensen.
